Oil Painting canvases can usually be bought at your local art and craft supply store or online. If you buy ata local store, ask them if you could have a discount like maybe a student discount or quantity purchase for less.
You could also paint on anything you want as long as its prepared. Ive often painted on a big piece of plywood.
Of course there is nothing better than starting on a new, fresh canvas.
