Oil Painting is a satisfying and very relaxing thing to do and is a great hobby to have. This type of art is enjoyed by millions around the globe. Oil Painting is just a great way to express your creativity and even some emotion all while you relax and unwind. Oil painting is very popular and widely admired mainly because of the deep rich tones you can produce and the ability to have a dimensional look to the piece. With this type of painting it provides opacity allowing the artist to cover over a darker color with a lighter color and can also be thinned out with a medium to provide a translucent quality.
While painting it removes your mind from the everyday stresses and actually can give you feelings of accomplishment. Another plus, not including the many hours of relaxation and pleasure is perhaps you'll have many new beautiful pictures to hang in your home. Once you get started on your path you could even join an art club to meet new and interesting people that share the passion as you do. Maybe take it a step further and even try to sell your paintings for some extra cash flow.
Oil Painting is mostly the direct application of paint to your canvas with very little planning and with little or no under painting. Basically it is just a brush stroke of your liking. This type of painting has its strengths and weaknesses and with the right skills can produce masterpieces.
Unfortunately it’s kind of a stick and see what follows. Oil painting require skills to bring your creation from beginning to end and some say these skills cannot just be acquired without long studying, and still then it's not for everyone.
Well then the beginning artist needs to start somewhere. Hopefully not to discourage you and you see the benefit authors have put into their teaching materials. What the beginning painter doesn't realize is just how much an author puts into his materials. There is a lot of expertise that that gets compressed into one of these works. Finding the materials is were some fun can begin and your painting hobby can begin.
It also takes some supplies to get you started. But not to worry as the oil paints and the brushes last a long time. After you have the initial supplies, and as your painting improves, you’ll just need to add a few more colors and add some specialty brushes to your paint box. I do hope you find painting as enjoyable as I do.
